The term Northern Soul was first coined by the
Blues & Soul writer,the late Dave Godin, back
in 1971, when he was describing the up and
coming soul scene that was emerging here
in the North of England, more up-tempo
and with a faster dance beat than that of
our counter parts in the South of England.
The music was championed by many
venues, but in particular The Wigan Casino,
Blackpool Mecca and The Torch in Tunstall,
Stoke-On -Trent. The glory days of Northern
Soul lasted through-out the 70s, and is still as
popular now, as it was over 35 years ago.So let
look back to the great days, and a little bit futher,
and relive the great sounds of........NORTHERN SOUL.
