THE STORY

The Stateside label along with Tamla Motown is probaby the most collected UK label. Originally EMI said it was to be called either Javelin or Discus, these names were rejected, and in 1962 they finally settled for the logo..Stateside, the 'S' was written as an Amercian dollar sign, and it's label colour was black with white lettering. Stateside was responsable for issuing some great music from American labels,these included Amy/Bell/ABC/Laurel/Wand and Mala, and due to the fact that they did'nt have an outlet for their music..the Tamla/ Gordy/Motown group of labels.So lets take a nostalgic look at one of the UKs finest soul labels...STATESIDE.
