The 2 TONE label was the brainchild of Jerry Dammers who's intention was to create the British equivilent of Tamla Motown or Stax, a label with it's own identity and with it's own sound.The identity was dominated by the bold black and white chequered label design,and the sound was up until 1981 mainly Ska.The mainstay of the label were The Specials and The brilliant Selector, although Madness and The Beat recorded just one single each before they moved on to other labels.2 TONES heyday was from 1979 to 1981 coinsiding with the Mod Revival...so get your braces together and your boots on your feet and give me some of that old........2 TONE.
