STORY
The KINKS story begins in Mushwell Hill, London in 1963 when the Davis brothers Ray and Dave, along with a school pal, Peter Quaife formed a skiffle group called The Ravens. Like the others Pete played guitar, but soon changed to bass. Mickety Willet was their drummer, but he was replaced by Mick Avory when a demo tape they had sent to Shel Tarmy a producer at PYE Records, was well received, Tarmy asked them to record their debut single,a cover version of Little Richards "Long Tall Sally", the song was a flop, but their third single "You Really Got Me" became the groups first hit. This was the start of a long career, spanning almost five decades, the pen of Ray Davis, has given us some of the finest popular songs ever recorded
