Born in Leigh Lancashire, 26th June 1943. 16 year old Clive Powell was signed by impressarioLarry Parnes, who already had Billy FuryTommy Steel & Marty Wilde as some of the top acts of the day on his books. A change of name was need and they sittled on Geaorgie Fame, he became a member of The Blue Flames, who at the time was Billy Furys backing band.When Fury parted with the band, Georgie became leader and set about taking the UK. charts by storm, with their own brand of Bues and Soul, resulting in Two No1 hits whilst signed to Columbia and a third on CBS. Geaorgie also teamed up with the former Animal Alan Price and also played keyboards on one of Van Morrisons albumns.Here we concentrate on his early 60s tracks on the Columbia Label. 18 classic 60s tracks from one of Britains finest and well respected musicians....GEORGIE FAME.
