SOUL CITY RECORDS started life in late 1966 in a small shop in Depford High Street, South London. Run by Dave Godin, David Nathan and Robert Blackmore. Specalizing selling American R & B and Soul. They soon out grew the Depford shop and moved up town to 17 Monmouth Street London WC2. On 9th March 1968 the first single was released SC101 by Don Gardner & Dee Dee Ford, "Don't You Worry" Over the next two years 19 singles were released and were distributed by Island Records and later by Philips. Each single carried the legend "SOUL AS DEEP AS YOU LIKE - AND THEN SOME" Recently the label has been revived, releasing more classic Soul Music from the 60s. SOUL CITY RECORDS still remains one of Britains most collectable independent record labels.
