MY GENERATION
Six Of The Best From 3 Great Lady Singers

Billie Davis

Born in Woking, Surrey on December 22nd 1943,
Carole Hedges was a vivacious and talented performer
who deserved a lot more success in her career than she
achieved. She sang backing vocals on Mike Sarnes
"Will I What", and then hit the charts big time
with a version of The Exciters, "Tell Him".
reaching No 10 in the UK charts. She later
survived a car crash involing Jet Harris, who
was bass player in The Shadows. which could
have put an end to her career, She went on to record some fine tracks until
1967, however none of these made any impact on the charts.....sadly.

Madeline Bell

Born on 23rd July 1942, in Newark, New Jersey Madeline Bell Bradus, came to the UK. to tour in the musical "Black Nativity" however she soon became a session singer, noteably singing backing to Dusty Springfields "Middle Of Nowhere". She soon establised herself as the "must have" on most of the 60s hits of many stars. She sang jingles for Radio Caroline, aswell as TV commercials. But Madeline was a true star and had her own career as a performer, giving us some great music and leaving

us with some wonderful tracks from the 60s, She later teamed up with the fine song writer Roger Cook and Herbie Flowers to form Blue Mink, Madeline is still recording and still performing, mainly in Jazz Clubs, and is still one of the most respected singers of all time.

Patruicia Ann Colewas born in Los Angeles, in 1946 and like Madeline Bell was a backing singer. with The Ikettes, who were backing singers and dancers for Ike & Tina Turner. It was while they were touring the U.K. with The Rolling Stones, that Mike Jagger asked her to stay and was signed to the Immediate label where she co-produced her first albumn. She sang backing vocals on The Small Faces hit single "Tin Soldier". Her first solo single was the classic Northern Soul track, "Everythings Gonna Be Alright", her big break came when she did a fine version of the Cat Stevens classic, "The First Cut His The Deepest", and a good version of Chip Taylors "Angle Of The Morning" followed. Pat is still in demand as a session singer, still living in the UK. PP Arnold will always stay a big favourite.
