The Wand label was founded in 1961 by a New Jersey housewife, Florence Greenberg. It was a subsidiary of Scepter Records which she founded a few years earlier,they shared the same office, staff, and A&R.Chuck Jackson was an early signing to the label, he had started out with the gospel group, Rasperry Singers, before joining the Doo-Wop group, TheDel-Vikings, he was encouraged by Jackie Wilson to go solo, and then released his first record on Wand 106"I don't wanna cry" which reached #5 in theR&B charts. Along with other great singers like Maxine Brown, and Roscoe Robinson, gave Wand a place in Norther Soul history..The is the Wand Story.
